Viewing links to and from a page

You can use the In & Out Links palette with any page in the site folder or site data folder--that is, with any page listed in the Files, Navigation, Links, or Extras tabs in site windows, and any page listed in the Design tab of site design windows.

You can also use the palette with the Errors tab, to list all the pages linked to a missing file. You can use the palette's point-and-shoot button to change the links to a missing file from all the pages in the list at once. (For information, see Checking the site for missing or orphan files.)

To view the links to and from a specific page in the In & Out Links palette:

1 Click the tab containing the page, either the Files, Navigation, Links, or Extra tab of a site window or the Design tab of a site design window.

2 Do one of the following:

  • Select the page.
  • Open the page in a document window.

  • 3 Click the Open In & Out Links Palette button () on the toolbar, or choose Window > In & Out Links. Incoming links to the page appear on the left, and outgoing links from the page appear on the right.

To follow a path of links in the In & Out Links palette:

1 Select an incoming or outgoing link in the In & Out Links palette. The file you selected moves to the center of the palette, and its incoming and outgoing links are displayed.

2 Repeat the step as often as necessary.

To limit the types of links appearing in the In & Out Links palette:

1 Choose Palette Options from the In & Out Links palette menu.

2 Select items to show as appropriate. (Unselected items are hidden.)

    3 Click OK.
